Montenegro: EU 4 Public Finance Management Project Holds Initial Steering Meeting

February 06, 2025

January 2025 marked a key milestone for the EU 4 Public Finance Management Project with the submission of the Inception Report, followed by the first Steering Committee meeting on January 28. This gathering brought together all project beneficiaries, the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro and the technical assistance team of experts to align on next steps.

GOPA Worldwide Consultants, in collaboration with GOPA PACE, is implementing the EU 4 Public Finance Management in Montenegro project which represents a pivotal step in Montenegro's journey toward sustainable economic growth and effective governance as a crucial part of the country's path to European Union (EU) accession. Project activities aim to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of public finance management in Montenegro.

The recent steering meeting marked successful closure of the project’s inception phase. For the last two months the onsite technical team has conducted 24 technical stakeholder meetings, refining the implementation plan to meet beneficiary needs and to ensure structured and impactful rollout of technical activities.

As the expert team transitions into the next phase, all stakeholders are looking forward to start implementation of the technical activities of the project. Another key project milestone includes the selection of a project office in Podgorica, set to open in the coming weeks.
