German-Ukrainian Cooperation in Organic Agriculture

In a nutshell

Germany supports partner countries in the development of a productive and resource saving agricultural and food economy. The project contributes in particular to the efficient and sustainable development of agriculture in Ukraine through its focus on the promotion of organic production with improved product quality. Competencies and institutional structures for the advanced development of organic agriculture are being enhanced. From GOPA Group, AFC is entrusted with this project’s implementation and has also been engaged in adapted support in food safety in the current situation.

Planned results:

  • The Ministry of Economy, the Food Safety Agency (FSA) and the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine (NAAU) are able to properly implement the tasks assigned to them in the Organic Law.
  • The Scientific and Methodological Centre for Higher and Further Vocational Education operates a knowledge platform for the development and provision of information about organic agriculture relevant to training.
  • Private and public institutions contribute to a structured and professional exchange of information within the organic sector and promote its visibility in Ukraine.

 

Our approach

  • Involve Personnel at the Ministry, FSA and NAAU in the organic legislation process.
  • Involve representatives of all the institutions and facilities in the design, establishment and operation of the knowledge platform.
  • Involve other private or institutional actors within the sector that are prepared to cooperate
  • Engage the public and consumers of organic products will benefit from improved organic agriculture.
  • Flexible adaptation of project activities according to the needs
